The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) has become the general sponsor for the Jewish Book Festival 2010, which has taken place in St. Petersburg on November 21-22. This is the thirteenth time this festival, organized by the Jewish Community Center led by Alexander Frenkel, has taken place in the “northern capital” of Russia. The festival was hosted by the famous Beloselsky-Belozersky palace on the Nevsky Avenue.

On November 22, an event dedicated to International Tolerance Day was held in school #41 in Tbilisi.

The 23–26 of November will see the visit of the President of the State of Israel Shimon Peres to Ukraine. In preparation for the visit, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Secretary General, Chairman of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities of Ukraine, Josef Zisels, sent Shimon Peres a letter describing the main problems of the Jewish community of Ukraine and requesting that the President discuss these questions with Ukrainian leaders during his visit.

A seminar for future journalists on the problems of news coverage related to tolerance, xenophobia, migration, and the life of national minorities has taken place on November 19th in the Zhitomir State University named after Ivan Franko.

 On the 11th of November, the famous Journalist Valeriy Georgiyevich Kadzhaya (1942-2010) has passed away after a difficult and lengthy illness. The EAJC grieves.

The Moscow center “Sefer,” a part of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), has announced the Winter Jewish Studies School, organized jointly with the Chase Center for Jewish Studies in Russian (of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem), and with the support of the Avi Chai foundation and the Genesis Philanthropy Group (as past of the Charities Aid Foundation program “Jewish Communities”).

The leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has received the news of the passing of Hella Moritz with great grief.

The Moscow office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) hosted a meeting of the delegation of leaders of a number of American Jewish organizations with the representatives of the Jewish community of Russia. The American delegation was led by the Executive Director of the Advocates on Behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia (NCSJ) Mark Levin.
