The Moscow office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) hosted a meeting of the delegation of leaders of a number of American Jewish organizations with the representatives of the Jewish community of Russia. The American delegation was led by the Executive Director of the Advocates on Behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia (NCSJ) Mark Levin.

The Russian side was represented by the Director General of the Federal Jewish National Cultural Autonomy Eugenia Mihaleva, Director of the “Sefer” Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization Victoria Mochalova, Deputy Director General of the Russian Jewish Congress Natalia Shmidt. The meeting was moderated by EAJC PR Department Head Roman Spector.

The delegations discussed the current situation with the so-called Jackson-Vanik amendment. The representatives of the Russian Jewish community spoke on the situation with anti-Semitism in Russia. There was a special interest among the American Jewry representatives in solidarity with Israel and the activity of the Russian Jewish community in counteracting anti-Israeli propaganda. The Russian Jewish participants of the meeting noted that it is quite difficult to oppose anti-Israeli moods considering the lack of clear and highly reliable information from Israeli official authorities.
