A representative delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), led by EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich, took part in a session of the Governing Board of the World Jewish Congress (WJC), a leading Jewish political organization. Over 150 leaders from WJC communities and organization attended the Jerusalem session. The EAJC delegation included both representatives of its leadership – Vice President Mark Shabad, Secretary General Michael Chlenov, General Council Chairman Josef Zisels – and the leaders of the national communities of Belarus, Georgia, India, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Vice President Mark Shabad has been elected a member of the WJC Executive Committee at the Jerusalem meeting of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Governing Board.

Mikhail Chlenov, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Secretary General, and Joseph Zissels the EAJC Chairman of the Board participated in the Moscow celebrations, dedicated to the 40 anniversary of establishment of NCSJ: Advocates on Behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia

The collection of the 5th international conference on the problem of refugees and evacuates in Kazakhstan, titled “History. Memory. People” has been presented in Almaty. The conference took place in 2010, at the initiative of the Association of Jewish National Organizations of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) and the JDC.

The Jewish community of Almaty (Kazakhstan) has celebrated the 80th anniversary of a Doctor of Education, active member of the Russian Academy of Educational and Social Sciences, honorary member of a number of university and laureate of many prestigious awards Grigory Abramovich Umanov. He was at the roots of the local Jewish communtiy center, and has been helping the Jewish community for many years with his educational work.

The two-year project “Ukrainian Books for Education in Tolerance,” done by a number of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations with financial support by the Netherlands organizations Anne Frank House and the Fund for Eastern and Central European Book Projects (CEEBP), has ended in Ukraine.

EAJC Moscow office has moved into a new home.

A memorial evening dedicated to Israel politician and community activist Yuri Shtern took place with EAJC aid in the Moscow Taganka Theater. The event was organized under the aegis of the Embassy of Israel in Russia and the Yuri Shtern Fund as part of the celebration of the 20-year anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Russia and Israel.

On June 2, the Congress College business community, which exists under the aegis of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), held a meeting with the Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Vladimir Platonov. The meeting was part of the College program “Partnership Between Business and the Authorities.”
