                  Exceptional Kazkhstan Community Activist Celebrates Jubilee at Shavuot

                  The Jewish community of Almaty (Kazakhstan) has celebrated the 80th anniversary of a Doctor of Education, active member of the Russian Academy of Educational and Social Sciences, honorary member of a number of university and laureate of many prestigious awards Grigory Abramovich Umanov. He was at the roots of the local Jewish communtiy center, and has been helping the Jewish community for many years with his educational work.

                  On behalf of the Jewish community, Grigoriy Abramovich was greeted by the President of the Mitzvah Kazakhstan Association of Jewish Communities, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council member Alexander Baron. He underscored that the Jewish community of Kazakhstan is endlessly thankful to Grigoriy Umanov for the contribution he has made into organizing community life and work in Almaty.

                  The jubilee celebration took place during the holiday of the giving of the Torah, Shavuot, and thus the celebrant was presented with a printing of the holy book as a gift.
