EAJC Salutations to Haim Ben Yakov

On October 30, 2013, the business community Congress College, acting under the aegis of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, held a joint event with the restaurant holding company “G.M.R. Planet of Hospitality” titled “Merab Elashvili’s History of Success. Guests at the ‘Planet of Hospitality.’”

On October 30, 2013, an opening ceremony took place at the Moscow Photo Center on Gogolevskya Avenue for the photo exhibition “We Live Here! Multi-Ethnic Moscow.” The exhibition was organized by the Foundation for the Restoration of Traditions “The Jewish National Fund,” with the aid of the Federal Jewish National Cultural Autonomy (FJNCA) and the informational support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) PR Department.

The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has awarded a number of important members of Russian society. Among those decorated were two representatives of religious communities: the Chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, Head Mufti Talgat Tadzhuddin and the Head Rabbi of Russia Adolph Shaevich. Vladimir Putin decorated them both with the Order For Merit to the Fatherland, IV class.

On October 28, 2013, a meeting took place in the recently-opened Atiqua Center for Progressive Judaism in Kyiv between the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the USA Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Eric Rubin and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council Chairman Josef Zisels and EAJC General Council member r. Alex Dukhovny.

On October 19, 2013, the Director of the Jewish Studies Center of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Editor-in-Chief of the “Dukh i Litera” publishing house, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council member Leonid Finberg was decorated with the honorary award of the Omelian and Tatiana Antonovich Foundation for his contribution to Ukrainian culture.

On October 21-23, the World Jewish Congress Executive Committee convened in Jerusalem.

On October 20, 2013, commemorative ceremonies for the destruction of the Minsk ghetto, 70 years ago, took place in Minsk. The events were organized by the Union of Belarussian Jewish Organizations and Communities (SBEOO), led by Union Chairman, EAJC General Council member Leonid Levin.

The General Council of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress has voted to approve the EAJC Presidium decision to convene an EAJC General Assembly in Jerusalem on February 16-18, 2014. 32 voted in favor, one abstained, and none voted against (as of 17:00 18.10.2013).

On October 17, 2013, the negotiations between the Presidium of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Presidium and the leaders on MEINL BANK, the largest private bank of Austria, have come to a successful conclusion.
