                  On January 3, the panel of judges of the Kyiv Court of Appeal (reporting judge Efimova, in the presence of attorney Dovgan I.M. and defense attorney Petr Boyko) has reviewed the appeal of the defense of the co-President of the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine Sergei Maximov, who was arrested on December 22, 2011.

                  It has recently become known that the police have arrested the ex-key shareholder of VAB Bank, Sergei Maximov. It is not currently known which criminal case investigation the arrest is connected to, and there is no official information on what he is being accused of. Informal information seems to indicate that his arrest may be directly connected to business conflicts.

                  The exhibition Chernobyl. Expedition to the Lost Land is to take place from December 2011 – to March 2012 on the premises of the Уthnological Collection of the Freiburg Municipal Museum. This international project was made possible due to the cooperation of the exhibition organizers with the Institute of Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Lviv); the Center for Studies of History and Culture of East European Jewry of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv); and the National Library of Ukraine (Kyiv).
