                  On April 6-7 of 1903, a terrible pogrom had taken place in Chisinau by connivance of the state, accompanied by arson, robbery and mass murder of Jews. The Jews, who had not received any support from neither the government nor the police, had defended themselves fiercely and provoked even more aggression. The resulting bloodbath took the lives of 50 people, and over 600 other residents of the city received wounds and grievous bodily harm. Almost a third of the houses of the city were damaged or destroyed.

                  In Berlin, a photo exhibition by Russian photographers opened at the Friedrichstrasse Russian House of photos. The exhibition was titled “Jews in Russia: A Rebirth of Traditions,” which was organized by the Jewish National Foundation. The exhibition was prepared with the aid of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress PR Department. Before the exhibition traveled to Germany, it had been opened in Moscow, Tel-Aviv and other Russian and Israeli cities.
