The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) expresses extreme indignation at the barbaric anti-Semitic act which took place in the center of the Moldovian capitol. A group of vandals demonstratively destroyed the Hanukkah menorah erected with the permission of the authorities in the European Square of the Chisinau Central Park, all while shouting anti-Semitic slogans.

On the 11th of December, the President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) visited Baku with a working visit. The main event of the visit was the meeting between the EAJC leader and the President of Azerbaikan Ilham Alieyv

On the 2nd of December, in the Mocow House of celebrations “Saphis”, the traditional yearly reception of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) took place. This year the reception was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Jewish community and spiritual life in the former Soviet Union.

On the 2nd of December, at the initiative of the President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Alexander Mashkevich, a meeting of important businessmen who actively support Jewish community life in the FSU took place in Moscow. The necessity for this meeting was created by the complex of negative factors formed currently, which stem both from the global financial crisis, and by the change in the recent years in the policy of world Jewish funds towards the Jewish communities of the former USSR. These problems dictate the urgent necessity of energetic, consolidated actions by the outstanding patrons of Jewish community life.

On December 2, on the premises of the Moscow theater “Shalom,” a jubilee congress of the Federation of Jewish Organizations and Communities (Vaad Russia), has taken place. It was timed to the 20th anniversary of the First Founding Congress of Vaad USSR, the first pan-USSR independent legal Jewish community. The creation of the Vaad USSR in 1989 became a momentous event, the beginning point for the rebirth of Jewish community life in the USSR and in post-Soviet space.

On December 1-2, events of the Conference of European Rabbis have taken place in Moscow with the support of the EAJC. As part of the program events, a meeting at the Large Choral Synagogue between the members of the Permanent Committee of the Conference and the Mayor of Moscow Yuri Luzhkov.

On the 1st of December, a meeting between the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch of Moscow and all of Russia with the leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress headed by EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich and representatives of the Confererence of European Rabbis took place in the residence of the Patriarch.
