A visit of the National Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry (NCSEJ) delegation took place from October 29 to November 2, 2015. The NCSEJ is a distinguished American Jewish organization that focuses on working in post-Soviet space. The program for the visit was prepared by the Kyiv office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress.

On October 29, the American guests met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to discuss matters involving the status of the Jewish community in Russian-occupied Donbass and on countering anti-Semitism and xenophobia.

On that same day, the NCSEJ delegation held negotiations with Ukrainian Parliament speaker Vladimir Groysman and a number of Ukrainian MPs. In the evening, VAAD Ukraine held a welcome reception for the delegation. Guests included leaders and representatives of Ukrainian Jewish organizations and the Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Eliav Belotserkovsky.

On October 30, leading Ukrainian and foreign experts participated in a briefing for the NCSEJ on matters involving human rights, the situation of national minorities, and xenophobia in Ukraine. Mustafa Dzhemilev, Commissioner of the President on the Affairs of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian MP, spoke about the current situation in occupied Crimea, and the head of the National Minority Rights Monitoring Group Vyacheslav Likhachev talked about the main problems in the sphere of manifestations of anti-Semitism and xenophobia in the context of Russian aggression.

On that same day, representatives of the American Jewish human rights coalition held meetings with Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration Vitaliy Klitschko and Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin.

From October 31 to November 1, the delegation visited Dnipropetrovsk to study the life of the region’s Jewish community as well as the problems pertinent to the reception and adaptation of internally-displaced persons from Russian-occupied territories.

On November 2, NCSEJ representatives held negotiations with representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs to discuss possible countermeasures to hate crime and problems that impede law enforcement authorities from investigating such crimes and holding the culprits accountable. On that same day, the American delegation met with the Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Boris Lozhkin.

The Ukrainian Jewish community was represented in these official meetings by VAAD Ukraine Co-President Andrei Adamovsky and VAAD Ukraine Co-President, Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council Josef Zissels.
