The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress with deep regret learned about the passing of prominent Jewish leader, Vice-President of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) Kalman Sultanik, who died in New York at the age of 97.
Zionist activist in pre-war Poland, member of the anti-Nazi underground resistance movement, the prisoner of the death camps, Jewish activist, who made tremendous efforts to support the Holocaust survivors, long-term board member of the WJC, Kalman Sultanik was verily a legendary figure in the international Jewish movement. His outstanding achievements have been recognized not only within the Jewish community: In 1995, he became Commander of the Order of Poland Reborn for a great job of collecting funds to support the museum in Auschwitz.
We grieve together with the family, friends and colleagues of Kalman Sultanik. The memory of this remarkable Man and Jew will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
