On May 1, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress General Council Chairman, VAAD Ukraine Chairman Josef Zisels met with a large group of Jewish and Ukrainian community leaders of the Greater Toronto area. He spoke about the situation of the Jewish community in Ukraine considering current events and answered the many questions that followed. Those present commented that the meeting was of “historic importance,” as it was the first meeting between the leaders of these two large and influential Canadian communities. The community leaders agreed to hold constant consultations with one another and to continue having such meetings in the future. Vice President (Canada) of the World Jewish Congress Moshe Ronen was also present.

On that same day, Josef Zisels gave an interview to the Canadian Jewish News, the largest Jewish newspaper in Canada, on the current situation of the Ukrainian Jewish community.
