                  EAJC GC Assembly Opens in Jerusalem

                  On February 16, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Assembly, its highest governing body, began work in Jerusalem. Congress communities from Europe, the former Soviet Union, and the Asian and Pacific region as well as representatives of international organizations that are EAJC associated members are taking part in the Assembly.

                  During the Assembly’s two-day work, the delegated will elect the new Congress President, the General Council and other Governing bodies, as well as approve corrections to its Charter and to adopt documents regulating the activities of this largest continental subdivision of the World Jewish Congress.

                  The former EAJC President Vadim Shulman resigned on January 1, 2014. The EAJC General Council accepted Shulman’s resignation and appointed EAJC Vice President Michael Mirilashvili as Acting President until the General Assembly.

                  The chief candidate for EAJC President is Julius Meinl.

                  The elections will take place during the EAJC General Assembly meetings today, on February 17.
