On August 16, 2013, the eighth Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt made one of his first official visits in this new capacity to the office of the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations (VAAD) Ukraine and the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC). EAJC General Council Chairman and VAAD Ukraine Chairman Josef Zisels spoke to the Ambassador at length on a number of topics, including the general situation in Ukraine, the life of the Jewish community, anti-Semitism and xenophobia, international projects, and so on.

Geoffrey R. Pyatt arrived in Kyiv on August 3. The official presentation of credentials ceremony took place on August 15, 2013.
