                  30.07.2013

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council has met the request of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia to join the EAJC.

The President of the Federation Dr. Ruben Fuchs discussed the intention of the Serbian Jewish community to join the EAJC in May 2013, during the World Jewish Congress Plenary Assembly in Budapest. During the initial negotiations, Dr. Fuchs expressed interest in a number of Congress programs, especially those connected with fostering tolerance and upholding religious traditions.

Earlier, the Governing Board of the Federation voted unequivocally in favor of joining the EAJC.

The Jewish community of Serbia numbers approximately 4000, approximately half of which live in Belgrade.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress greets the new community and hopes for a long and fruitful partnership with the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia.

The EAJC portal will soon publish information on the Serbian Jewish community.
