On July 3, Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) General Council Chairman Josef Zisels held a number of meetings in Georgia concerning the implementation of EAJC projects. The “Roots of Tolerance - Caucasus - 2013” project was discussed on a first-priority basis.

A discussion also took place with the leader of the Cartu Foundation Nikoloz Chhartiani, which involved both the possible financial participation of the Foundation in the Roots of Tolerance project as well as joint EAJC and Cartu work to renovate and restore synagogues and Jewish cemeteries in Georgia.

In 2013, the Cartu foundation plans to spend over a million lari on the project. The Cartu Foundation is one of the personal foundation of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is currently doing maintenance and repairs on the mountain village synagogue architectural complex in Kutaisi as part of its program to preserve Jewish heritage. EAJC Vice President David Yakobashvili sponsors the project.
A discussion was also held with the leaders of the international organization “world vision” on its possible sponsorship of the “Roots of Tolerance - Caucasus - 2013” project.
