                  Victoria Mochalova Reads Lecture in Minsk

                  The EAJC General Council member Victoria Mochalova has read a lecture in Minsk at the invitation of the Union of Belarussian Jewish NGOs and Communities.

                  The status of Jewish Studies in the former Soviet Union, the place and role of Yiddish in modern society, and the situation with the Schneerson Library were all discussed at the meeting. The attendants also had the chance for an informal meeting with an intelligent, educated lecturer.

                  Victoria Mochalova is an extremely well known representative of Russian Jewish Studies, a philologist who specializes in Polis, the founder and leader of the Sepher Center, the leader of the Center for Slavic-Jewish Studies of the Slavic Studies Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and who has been decorated with the “Amicus Poloniae” medal and the RAS and Polish Academy of Sciences award for her scholarly contributions.
