The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Secretary General Michael Chlenov held a special meeting in Casablanca with the leader of the Jewish community of Morocco, Ambassador at Large of the King of Morocco Serge Berdugo.

The two exchanged information on the life of the Jewish communities of Morocco and the Euro-Asian region and discussed the main problems global Jewry faces – in particular, growing anti-Semitism in Western European countries. Opinions on the upcoming Plenary Assembly of the World Jewish Congress had also been exchanged.

During his visit to Casablanca, the EAJC Secretary General had also visited the main synagogue of the city and Museum of Jews of Morocco.

Michael Chlenov noted: “The EAJC has a steady working relationship with the Jewish community of Morocco. For example, some time ago we organized the visit of a group of Jewish schoolchildren from Moscow to Morocco so that they could learn about Morocco's Jewish heritage. We have also organized a joint diplomatic mission to Morocco with the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. All of this has been a very positive cooperation experience. At the meeting with Ambassador Berdugo we decided to continue and deepen contacts between the EAJC and the Jewish community of the Kingdom of Morocco.”
