The Jewish Cultural Educational Foundation, led by EAJC General Council member Elena Berkovich, organized a Chanukah candle-lighting ceremony with the aid of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.

Among those who took part in the ceremony were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Georgia Yuval Fuchs, his peers from Poland and Lithuania, representatives of the Tbilisi City Hall, leader of the Nationalities House under the Georgian Dream public association Mamuka Areshidze, and representatives of national diasporas and the media.

The celebration culminated with the play titled “Chanukah Miracle,” directed and written by Georgian director Irakliy Gogiya. Elena Berkovich noted to journalists, “The fact that our Youth Theater was unable to accommodate all those who wanted to come see the play reminds us that we are not alone, and the Chanukah miracle is in how this holiday unites Jews with the other peoples of Georgia.”
