The Vice President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Gabriel Mirilashvili led a delegation of the World Congress of Georgian Jews (which is a part of the EAJC) in a meeting with recently reelected Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili. The meeting took place in Israel, just before Chanukah, and the delegation included Jamlet Huhashvili and Shabtai Tsur.

Over the course of a friendly discussion on perspectives of an even closer relations between Georgia and Israel, the sides continually emphasized the centuries-old friendship between the Georgian and the Jewish people.

As WCGJ President Gabriel Mirilashvili noted, “This meeting with the new leader of the country where we were born and raised is a strong testament to the possible fruitfulness of the friendship between the people of Israel and Georgia, and to how deep and nonseparable are the ties between the Jews and the Georgians – peoples, whose fates are so strongly historically intertwined.”
