On November 25, the Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Michael Chlenov spoke at a Moscow rally in support of Israel's actions against terrorism and extremism in the Near East. The rally, which gathered approximately 300 people, was organized by the Zionist youth organization “Shahar.”

Among those who spoke at the rally were Russian Jewish Congress President Yuri Kanner, Rabbi Shimon Levin, former head of the Russian department of JAFI Shlomo Neeman, head of Shahar Russia Alexander Kargin.

Michael Chlenov stressed in his speech that Jewish organizations need to demand the following of the Russian government: firstly, to recognize that Hamas is a terroristic organization; secondly, to renounce the use of the ill-defined term “disproportionate respons”; and, thirdly, to not support the UN initiatives of the Palestinian Autonomy to proclaim unilateral independence. Chlenov also noted that an informational campaign must be maintained to inform Russians of one simple thing: that Israel has a right to self-defense!

“We must influence the mass media by any and all means at our disposal with the aim of obtaining fair and unbiased coverage of future conflicts. Since the latest operation has come to a conclusion, many believe that this should be the end of our actions. But this is not the case! It is precisely now, when the results of the fight against the terrorists are being evaluated, Israel needs our support more than ever,” the EAJC Secretary General noted.
