On September 6, the Dostyk concert hall of Pavlodar (Kazakhstan) hosted a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Jewish cultural center “Merkaz” and the 80th anniversary of Faina Pavlovna Svechinsky, the one and only head of the center.

The celebration was attended by some of the most important officials of the city and the region. The Akim (local government head – transl.) of the Aryn Oblast, Erlan Muhtaruly, awarded Faina Swechinsky the “For Merits on Behalf of the Oblast” medal.

Salutations on behalf of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and the Jewish community of Kazakhstan were given by EAJC Presidium member, President of the Mitzvah Association of Jewish Communities of Kazakhstan, Alexander Baron.
