EAJC Presidium: Extraordinary EAJC General Assembly to Take Place in Jerusalem

                  07.05.2012

On May 4, a meeting of the temporary Presidium of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), took place in the USA. The Presidium is an effective governing body that includes representatives of countries which, in 2002, had provided the EAJC with its founders (Russia is represented by Michael Chlenov, Ukraine by Josef Zisels, Kazakhstan by Alexander Baron), as well as EAJC Acting President Vadim Shulman.

A number of question on the current activity of the Congres were discussed during the meeting. A decision was also made to hold an extraordinary session of the EAJC General Assembly – a meeting of community leaders from the countries of the regions covered by the EAJC. The previous General Assembly – the second one – had taken place in 2007 in Jerusalem. The General Assembly planned for this year is connected to the necessity to confirm the decisions made by the Presidium and General Council on the changes in the leadership of the Congress.

According to the decision made during the Presidium meeting, the extraordinary General Assembly will take place on June 17-18 in Jerusalem.

Also, as former EAJC Treasurer Fyodor Osinin has divested himself of authority in 2011, a Congress mandate was signed to assign Yehuda Udi Ben Ami until the General Assembly.
