                  EAJC General Council Member Reads Educational Lecture for Ukrainian Police

                  On March 26, EAJC General Council member Vyacheslav Likhachev read an educational lecture to Ukrainian policemen. The lecture was read by request of the head of the Service of the Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs, as part of the program to fulfill the Presidential decree “On the plan of events to fulfill Ukrainian obligations supervening from its membership in the Council of Europe,” as well as the MIA administrative decree “On organizing training of MIA personnel in 2011/2012.”

                  In his lecture, Likhachev explained the notion of hate crime, listed the qualitative attributes of such a crime, and presented the statistics on criminal manifestations on xenophobia, which was collected over the years of work of the EAJC program on monitoring and analyzing manifestations of xenophobia in Ukraine.

                  Yana Salahova, aide on counteracting xenophobia to the Head of the Representative Office of the International Organization for Migration in Ukraine, also gave a lecture to the police on the international obligations of Ukraine and on international law for overcoming all forms of racial discrimination.
