                  EAJC Delegation Takes Part in Memorial Event in Kyiv

                  A representative delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), which icluded Vice President Mark Shabad, Merab Elashvili, Emmanuil Greenshpun, and General Council Chairman Josef Zisels took part in memorial event in Kyiv dedicated to the 70th year since the Babiy Yar tragedy.

                  This tragic date was commemorated in the capital of Ukraine at the highest official level. The events were visited by Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich. A delegation from the government of Israel also arrived in Kyib, including MFA Head Avigdor Lieberman, Minister of Absorption Sofa Landver, and Minister of Information and Diaspora Yuli-Yoel Edelstein.

                  Among the participants were leaders of the most important Jewish organizations of Ukraine, Europe, and North America: President of the Pan-Ukrainian Jewish Congress Vadim Rabinovich. Head of the Kyiv Jewish religious community Alexander Levin, leader of the European Jewish Union Igor Kolomoisty, President of the European Rabbi Conference, EAJC Rabbi Council Secretary General, Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt, Executive Vice President of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (Conference of Presidents) Malcolm Hoenlein, NCSJ President Alexander Shmukler and its executive director Mark Levin.

                  Members of the EAJC delegation also visited Uman, to offer traditional prayers of the High Holy Days at the grave of the founder of Bratslav Hasidism, Rabbi Nachman. Working meetings between Congress representatives and leader of the Cherkasy Oblast Serget Tulub and mayor of Uman Yuri Bodrov were also held.
