On July 11th, the Chairman of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress'  General Council Josef Zissels made a working visit to Cherkasy. During the metting with the leaders of the local Jewish community (chairman David Letichevsky), important community questions were discussed, including the building of a new synagogue in Cherkasy.

Josef Zissels also met with the governor of Cherkasy Oblast Sergei Tulub, and discussed a number of problems connected with the approaching pilgrimage of Bratslav Hasidim to Uman.
