                  10.07.2011

In Moscow, representatives of the leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, together with their colleagues from the Federal Jewish National Cultural Autonomy and the Federation of Jewish Organizations (VAAD) Russia, held a working meeting with the delegation of the American Jewish Committee (AJC), headed by Executive Director David Harris and the Head of the Russian Department Sam Kliger.

The representative delegation of one of the most authoritative Jewish structures of the USA arrived in the capital of Russia as part of a planned series of visits to a number of European countries. The aim of these visits is to hold meetings and consultations with representatives of the political circles and non-government organizations on the possible unilateral proclamation of the Palestinian state.

In Moscow, the AJC delegation met with a number of politicians and community leaders. The delegation voiced the extreme concern of American Jewry of the possible acceptance of the Palestinian state and the consequences of this for the region and the world as a whole. The topic of the Iranian nuclear dossier was also brought up numerous times. AJC representatives stressed that Iran possessing nuclear weaponry is a direct threat not only to the Jewish state, but to general stability.

The question of the upcoming September UN vote on the Palestinian state and the yet-important topic of the attempts to delegtimize Israel was also discussed at the meeting with the representatives of leading Jewish organizations. EAJC representatives stressed that the position of the Congress is the same as the AJC approach. The EAJC also believes that the one-sided proclamation of the Jewish state is the direct continuation of the attempts of certain circles to delegitimize Israel, and is a threat to the current world order.
