The Secretary General of the Council of Rabbis of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, Head Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldshmidt was elected the new head of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER). Rabbi Goldshmidt became the fourth president in this influential religious organization's 54-year-long history.having succeeded former Head Rabbi of France Josef Sitruk.

Speaking at the CER meeting in London, Rabbi Goldshmidt gave his deep gratitude for the high honor accorded to him, that is the responsibility to represent hundreds of rabbis from Europe. He noted: "The CER was at the roots of the recreation of Jewish communities after the war. Me and my colleagues were lucky to witness the miraculous rebirth of the communities of the former Soviet Union. Let God in his grace give me the power to strengthen the Jewish communities of Europe, responding to the challenges which the ever-changing world constantly gives us."

The EAJC Presidium cordially congratulates rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt with his deserved election to such an important position, and wishes him to take up this new field with the same willpower and energy that have already made him one of the most important Jewish religious leaders of the former USSR.
