A representative delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, headed by EAJC Secretary General, Professor Michael Chlenov, has taken part in the opening of the photo exhibition "We are With You, Carmel!" at the Israeli Culture Center of the Embassy of Israel in Moscow.

The exhibition, organized by the Jewish Naional Fund, was dedicated to the catastrophic fire tha struck the north of Israel in December 2010, measures that were taken at the time, and overcoming the consequences of the tragedy. The exposition presents works of four photographers from Haifa: Boris Belenkiy, Lev Boguslavskiy, Natalia Ermulnik, and Lev Tarnopolsky, who have reflected in their works the deadly might of the element of fire, the courage of the people who stood aainst i, and the majestic beauty of renascent nature.

The aim of the exhibition is to demonstrate the solidarity of the Diaspora with the people and country of Israel and to atrract funds to restore the foress on mount Carmel.

Among the speakers at the opening were the Director of the Israeli Culture Center Mirit Wachs, the First Secretary of the Embassy of Israel in the Russian Federation Shlomo Voskoboinik, and the Director of the Jewish National Fund Raphael Fainberg, who read he salutation by JNF President Vladimir Shernfeld, and underscored that the solidarity with Israel was visibly shown by Russian Jews, as people from dozens of Russian cities sent money so that the fund could replant the trees of Carmel.

The EAJC Secretary General notd in his speech: "This exhibition, as well as the reaction of the Diaspora to the tragedy, once again reminds us of the ancient wisdom that all Jews are responsible for one another. For the EAJC, it is a matter of special pride that our President, Alexander Mashkevich, was the first of the Jewish leaders to react to the tragedy, and visited the norh of Israel, met with the people who fought the fire, and took part in organizing the multilevel program on restoring the regions harmed by the fire."

The Israeli Culture Center will exhibit the exposition until May 12th, after which the exhibition will travel to Jewish communities all over Russia.
