                  Joint Mission to Athens Continues

                  On the 9th of February, the President of Greece Karolos Papoulias met with the joint Jewish diplomatic mission in Athens. The delegation of leading Jewish structures was headed by EAJC Secretary General Professor Michael Chlenov and President of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Alan Solow.

                  The leaders of the joint mission and the head of the Third Hellenic Republic exchanged greetings and mementoes. The salutations many times emphasized the historic ties between the Greeks and the Jews, which gifted the world with the foundations of modern civilizations.

                  That same evening, the delegation visited USA Ambassador Daniel Smith at his residence.

                  On the 10th of February, members of the Greek Cabiner of Ministers, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitris P. Droutsas, Minister of Culture and Tourism Pavlos Gerulanos, Minister of National Security Evangelos Venizelos. The evaluations of the position of Greece in international relations and economic cooperation was summaried by Georgios Papandreu, the Prime Minister of Greece. The Prime Minister especially underscored the good relations between Greece and Israel.

                  The series of meetings with representatives of the authorities of Greece continued that same day in the parliament of the country. Parliament Speaker Filippos Petsalnikos met with representatives of the united delegations, and was greeted on its behalf by Alan Solow and Michael Chlenov. EAJC General Council Chairman presented the speaker of the Hellenic Parliament with mementoes from the Congress.
