                  Peretz Goldmacher Salutations!

                  31.01.2011

The leadership of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), VAAD Russia, and VAAD Ukraine cordially congratulate Peretz Goldmacher on his 90th anniversary. Mr. Goldmacher is an outstanding Jewish public figure, a man that has actively supported the independent Jewish movement in the USSR during its resurgence and establishment.

The founder and many-year President of the Association of Engineers and Scientists NEW American (AES), Peretz Goldman became one of the informal leaders of Russian-Jewish community life in New York during the 1990s. It was through is efforts that bridges were successfully built between “fourth wave” immigrants and structures of the American Jewish establishment.

Peretz Goldman held a key role in the creation of a number of leading organizations of the Russian-speaking Jewish community of New York, including the Council of Jewish Organizations of Immigrants from the Former Soviet Union (CJOI), which would later be transformed into The Council of Jewish Emigre Community Organizations (COJECO). He organized a training program for leaders and activists for the Russian-speaking USA Jewish community together with the American Jewish Committee (AJC)

And today, despite his venerable age, Peretz Goldman continues to take an active part in Jewish community life, and is preparing for print a book on the history of the Jewish rebirth in the Soviet Union.

We wish the hero of the day good health, great happiness in his family circle and community service, and, of course - to 120!
