                  10.01.2011

The Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Rabbi Council, Head Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt has been confirmed to be the authorized representative of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) for relations with the Eastern Christian churches.

EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich commented on this, "Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt has extensive experience in interacting with representatives of other faiths; experience which he has received in part through EAJC activity to further intercivilizational dialogue.

As he is not only the religious leader of a communtiy, but a learned theologist and at the same time a person of the contemporary world, Rabbi Goldshmidt will doubtlessly make a significant contribution to developing a fruitful dialogue between the Jews of Eurasia and the representatives of Eastern Christianity, and, first and foremost – as he is the Head Rabbi of Moscow – with the Russian Orthodox Church.

I would like to wish Rabbi Pinchas Goldshmidt fruitful work at his new post – work which will, in truth, continue our efforts of many years to strengthen mutual understanding and respect between peoples of different faiths and nationalities."
