The youth seminar "The Jewish Community and We," organized by the Jewish National Cultural Autonomy (JNCA) of Sverdlovsk  Region and the Sverdlovsk Society for Jewish Culture  (SSJC) "Hatikvah", with the aid of the Foundation for Jewish Campus Life "Gilel" of Ekaterinburg, took place December 3-5 in the "Verhnya Sysert" recreation camp. The seminar was lef by EAJC General Council Member, JNCA of Sverdlovsk  Region President Michael Oshtrakh. The seminar was aimed at helping Jewish youth meet experienced activists and Jewish community leaders, to allow the youth to understand how the Jewish community forms and functions, to discuss ideas of common activity. The participants of the seminar lit Chanukah candles, celebrated the Shabbat, listened to the weekly Torah chapter read by  the JNCA of Ekaterinburg Deputy Chairman Boris Borovik and listened to Michael Oshtrakh's lectures on the history of the formation of Jewish communities and the contemporary Jewish communities of Russia and the world. The SSJC "Hatikvah" Chairman Michael Berenzaft and Michael Oshtrakh led discussion on building Jewish communities. The youth of "Gilel," led by Valeriya Baykovich, held different and fun games to get acquainted. The seminar took place with JDC support.
