Leader of Latvian Jews thanks EAJC
10.12.2010 The Chairman of the Council of Jewish Communities of Latvia Arkady Suharenko sent a letter of thanks for the EAJC statement on the desecration of a Jewish cemetery in the center of the Latvian capital to the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) President Alexander Mashkevich.
The letter reads: "On behalf of the Jewish community of Latvia, I thank the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress and personally the EAJC President Alexander Mashkevich for sharing our indignation at the desecration of the graves at the New Jewish Cemetery of Riga, and for the sympathy towards the family of those whose graves were vandalized.
The Jews of Latvia value the support of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Highly, and hope that the guilty party will be found and punished accordingly."
