                  Conference of “Paideia” Program Graduates Held in Kiev

                  The graduates of the Svedish Paideia program held a conference in the Kiev office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC). The conference ended on the 10th of October with a round table on the future of Jewish communities in former Soviet Union territories.

                  For three days, the graduates of the year long Swedish educational program for young scholars and community workers from different countries discussed Jewish life in the former Soviet Union, shared their experience of their own projects, listened to lectures and met with leaders of different Ukrainian Jewish organizations. Guests included the Director of the Center for Studies of the History and Culture of East European Jews of the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy," EAJC General Council Member Leonid Finger, leader of the International Jewish Studies Certificate Program Dr. Igor Turov. EAJC General Council member Vyacheslav Likhachev read a lecture on the history and current state of the Ukrainian Jewish community.
                   
                  The EAJC General Council Chairman, Head of VAAD Ukraine Josef Zisels also met with the participants of the conference. Zisels moderated the round table "The Future of Jewish Communities in the FSU." The discussion included practical questions on cooperation between the Paideia program and the EAJC in Jewish education and training professional personnel.
