On the 26th of September, a tragic report came from the Ukrainian city of Uman: Shmuel Menachem Tubul, one of the thousands of pilgrims who had come to Uman to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the death of Rabbi Nachman, founder of Breslov (Bratslav) Hasidism, had been stabbed to death. The young Israeli received a mortal knife wound during a fight with the locals, which erupted after an abrupt conflict. The suspects, two drunken locals, have been apprehended.
The available information on the case seems to imply there was no anti-Semitic motive involved. It is most likely a case of hooliganism from the locals that turned violent as emotions rose.
