                  27.09.2010

The President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Alexander Maskevich visited Amman at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Samir Zaid al-Rifai, to discuss a number of investment projects which, presumably, will include neighboring countries. The scope of the projects can be inferred from the fact that the royal ministers of economics, infrastructure, energy, and finances were all involved in the negotiations.
After the multi-tiered negotiations, Alexander Mashkevich spoke with journalists about the political perspectives of the projects, without going into economic detail. The EAJC leader underscored that the leadership of Jordan has a strong peacekeeping position, and reminded the journalists that the Central Bank of Jorgan froze all financial operations for all persons and organizations suspected of contacts with terrorists.
"Economic development not only increases the number of workplaces, but also has a very positive influence on the public mind," said Mashkevich. "Jordan is one of the leading players in the Near East. The positions taken by its leadership actively influence the dynamics of the relationships of all neighboring countries. By participating in the economic development of this neighbor of Israel, I wish to make peace close, and to strengthen the security of the region."
