                  24.09.2010

The leaders and workers of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress heartily congratulate the EAJC Secretary General, Professor Michael Chlenov on his 70th anniversary.
A traveller, a scholar, a teacher, a community leader and a social activist – such are the many faces of one of the most fascinating representatives of the Jewish national movement in the USSR and today's Russia, Michael Chlenov. The achievements of Michael Chlenov in preserving the barely-glowing embers of Jewish national life in the difficult Soviet years, in building the Jewish community in post-Soviet times, his fruitful labor of many years for the good of the former USSR Jews, are all very well known and require no reminders.
Today, at 70 years of age, Michael Chlenov still demonstrates a youthful keenness of mind and speed of response, complemented by accrued wisdom and colossal experience. He is one of the most authoritative figures in Jewish social and political life, a true ideologist of Jewish community building in the Euro-Asian region.
The longstanding active participation of professor Chlenov in the work of EAJC as its Secretary General naturally lends weight and respect to the largest Jewish regional structure. We are truly grateful to professor Chlenov for this opportunity to work with him, and wish him good health and success in all his endeavors.
We should add that professor Chlenov is only ten years over the time the Almighty gives to the best sons of the Jewish people. And this means that he still has long years of fruitful work for the good of the Jewish people ahead of him.
Mazl tov! And – to 120!
