The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress received the news about the terroristic act in Bishkek with pain and indignation.

On September 9, 2010, unknown criminals threw an explosive filled with projectiles into the synagogue courtyard, where a feast table had already been prepaired. It is only because of a stroke of luck that nobody was hurt. The building of the synagogue, the house of the rabbi, and household outbuildings were damaged.
Obviously, this was an act of intimidation. It is especially disturbing that the terroristic act took place on a day holy to both Jews and Muslims.
The EAJC thus expresses concern on the situation of the Bishkek synagogue, which had already become a target for anti-Semitic attacks during the April riots.
We insist that the new leaders of Kyrgyzstan give a serious political assessment to this cynical crime and take all necessary measures to catch and punish the criminals, as well as provide safety for objects in the Jewish infrastructure of the country.
We sympathize with our brothers and sisters, whose celebration was marred by this inhuman escapade, and are ready to provide the necessary help to Bishkek's Jewish community.
There can be no justification for terror, nor can it have any political perspectives.
