EAJC President Becomes Guest of Honor for Yona Metzger

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) President visited Israel during the last week of July, and was a guest of honor at the marriage ceremony of the son of the Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Yona Metzger. Yona Metzger was and is an active supporter of EAJC activity to preserve the Jewish religious tradition and promote interfaith dialogue.

A meeting between Alexander Mashkevich and the leader of the World Congress of Georgian Jews Gabriel Mirilashvili was also part of the visit. Gabriel Mirilashvili has recently been appointed EAJC Vice President. Educational and charity projects conducted at the initiative and through financial support of the Vice President were discussed in depth at the meeting. As Alexander Mashkevich noted, thanks to these programs, which are very much in line with EAJC ideals and approaches, Congress activity shall become more varied and multifaceted. The EAJC president also underscored that such efforts to unify constructive activity should serve the Jewish people's best interests, and strengthen the solidarity between Diaspora communities and the Jewish state.
