The Secretary General of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Professor Michael Chlenov participated in the Conference of Jewish National Organizations of the Central Federal District (CFD) of the Russian Federation as chairman. The conference took place on the 6th of July, 2010, on the premises of the Moscow Jewish theater “Shalom.” Professor Chlenov gave one of the defining reports at the conference, titled “The CFD Jewish Community.” The second such report, “On the perspectives of creating an Association of Representatives of Jewish national organizations of the CFD, on the goals and tasks of the Association,” was given by the Chairman of the Regional National Cultural Autonomy of Moscow Vladimir Shternfeld.
The participants of the conference were sent a greeting by the Russian Presidential Envoy in CFD Georgiy Poltavchenko. In particular, the greeting read, “Consolidating the efforts of non-governmental organizations, religious groups, national-cultural autonomies, charity funds, and educational establishments for preserving and developing national traditions and strengthening interethnic and interreligious peace is most important today.”
The Conference elected an organizational committee to create the Association of Representatives of Jewish National Organizations of CFD RF, and a number of policy documents was passed.
