                  EAJC Office in Kyiv Visited by American Delegation

                  A joint delegation of the representatives of the Jewish-American human rights organization, the National Conference on Soviet Jewry (NCSJ), and students of Stanford visited the Kyiv office of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) during their visit to Ukraine. The chairman of the Association of Jewish Communities and Organizations (Vaad) of Ukraine, former dissident and political prisoner Josef Zisels gave a speech to the American guests on the human rights activities and the fight of Jews for their rights in the Soviet Union. His speech concluded with an overview of the contemporary state of Jewish community life in Ukraine.
                  Members of the EAJC General Council Vyacheslav Likhachev and Leonid Finberg also spoke before the guests. Likhachev informed the guests of the current state of affairs in Ukraine concerning racism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and crimes of hatred. Leonid Finberg explained about the activities of the Jewish Studies Center which he leads, and expounded on the state of Jewish Studies in Ukraine in general. Also, Yana Yanover, the director of the Center of Jewish Education told the American delegation about the activities of her organization.
