The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress Obituary for Outstanding Ukrainian Documentary Film Maker Raphail Nakhmanovich

On the 16th of May, 2009, in Kiev, the outstanding documentary film maker Raphail Nakhmanovich passed away. He was 83 years old.
A man whose life was intricately tied with the tragic history of the country where he was birthed has passed away.
Famine and war, friends, whose fates were mutilated by the Soviet government, a beloved job, but films than never made it to the big screen, and an impossibility to express all that he thought.
He could work wholeheartedly only in very late years, when the movies "Jewish Cemetery" (1989) and "Victor Nekrasov. On 'Svoboda' and at Home" (1991) were filmed.
Raphail Aronovich was an amazing man. Smart, astute, ironic, and friendly. He was a man whose principles in life were his honor and his consciousness. This is how we shall remember him.
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress presents most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Rafail Aronovich.
