ILHAM ALIYEV MET EURO-ASIAN JEWISH CONGRESS PRESIDENT

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev met Euro-Asian Jewish (EAJC) Congress President Alexander Machkevitch in Baku. The meeting had terminated the visit to Azerbaijan of an international delegation, members of which were MK Yosef Shagal (Israel) and the EAJC leadership.
The International Forum "The World Jewry and the Caucasus" prospect of realization and expansion of collaboration between the countries in the region were discussed during negotiations.
"We have finally co-ordinate the idea and format of the Forum and we will arrange it as soon as possible", - answered Machkevitch the journalists' questions, - "In the difficult time the experience of peaceful co-existence between Moslems and Jews of Azerbaijan is of great importance for our compatriots all over the world".
In this connection EAJC President noted the special merits of EAJC General Council member, the Jewish Community of Azerbaijan leader Gennady Zelmanovich, to whom the delegation presented a special diploma.
As for business-like co-operation questions Machkevitch mentioned the prospect of Azerbaijan-Israeli collaboration in the field of power engineering and the necessity to develop further efforts to remove the US Congress amendments, which complicate the position of Azerbaijan in the international economic co-operation.
"Co-operation in this field could consolidate mutually beneficial partnership between the Middle East and the Caucasus and in that way assist the transformation of both regions into the area of prosperity and stability", - brought into focus the Euro-Asian Jewish leader.
