                  World Jewish Congress Delegation Arrives to Russia.

                  WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS DELEGATION ARRIVES TO RUSSIA

                  The World Jewish Congress (WJC) delegation visit to Moscow has begun. The WJC mission arrived at the invitation of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), the largest WJC continental branch.
                  The delegation headed by Chairman of the WJC Policy Council Israel Singer, WJC Secretary General Stephen Herbits and WJC leadership member Matthew Bronfman, has already held a number of meetings. Thus, the guests met with the core group of the Federal Jewish National and Cultural Autonomy (FJNCA) and Federation of Jewish Organizations and Communities - Vaad of Russia, r. Yitzhak Cohen of Bronnaya Synagogue and Council of Muftis of Russia Chairman, Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.
                  "We welcome that WJC has again supported the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress initiatives in Russia", - said to journalists EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch, who also arrived to Moscow, - "We will continue developing national and cultural autonomy of Jews, fighting against anti-Semitism and strengthening interethnic and inter-confessional dialogue".
                  The visit agenda also includes familiarization with main Jewish organizations of Russia and participation in the Limmud program, being held for the first time on the territory of and for the Jewry of the CIS.
                  "This joint initiative with WJC supports restoration of connections between Jewish communities in the FSU and their contacts with main institutions of world Jewry", - noted EAJC Secretary General and Limmud Co-Chairman Michael Chlenov, - "The path to understanding of the former USSR countries lies, first of all, via humanitarian projects, among which I also number the Limmud".
                  In his turn, Chairman of the WJC Policy Council emphasized that activities in the Euro-Asian region is one of the WJC priorities. "Thus, we are ready to ensure Sheikh Gainutdin participation in the meeting of world confessions hierarchs that precedes the UN General Assembly", - said Israel Singer.
