AZERBAIJAN DENOUNCES THE HOLOCAUST CARTOONS PUBLICATION IN IRANIAN MEDIA

The President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the united delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) headed by the EAJC President Alexander Machkevitch and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations headed by its Chairman Harold Tanner and its Executive Vice Chairman Malcolm Hoenlein in Baku.
"We fully support the Azerbaijani leader position that insulting of national and religious relics, including the remembrance of the Holocaust and barbarous cartoons of Muslim Prophet Muhammad is unacceptable", - said Dr Machkevitch and emphasized that Moslems-Shiites make up the majority of population in Azerbaijan as well as in Iran.
Dr Machkevitch also noted that President Aliyev contributed to the consolidation of interethnic and inter-confessional peace in the country. "Even during the hardest years for Soviet Jewry the Azerbaijani leadership opposed to the policy of state anti-Semitism by all means. And today, when the difficult period of independent statehood formation and religious revival is over, the Azerbaijani people are even more firmly convinced in their position against any form of Jude phobia".
