                  RJC SESSION / EAJC LEADERSHIP STATEMENTS

                  Moscow, Russia, September 12-14, 2004
                  The Russian Jewish Congress (RJC) IV Session and the Conference of Leaders of Jewish Organizations in Russia (CLJOR) Forum were taking place in Moscow from 12 till 14 September 2004.
                  In the course of these events a new office of the RJC was opened, a number of sectional and plenary meetings were held, which were dedicated to charity, work with youth, Jewish education, culture, combating against anti-Semitism, etc.
                  At the time of an official opening of the RJC Session its delegates and guests honored by a minute of silence the memory of the dead killed in acts of terror in Israel and Russia.
                  Michael Chlenov, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC) Secretary General, the Vaad of Russia President and r. Adolph Shaevich, Rabbi-in-Chief of Russia, the EAJC Council of Rabbis Deputy Chairman took an active part in the work of the Session and the Forum.
                  In their speeches Prof. Chlenov and r. Shaevich marked EAJC successful experience of collaboration with the RJC and the CLJOR and also provided a detailed analysis of the situation in the “Jewish street” in Russia and Euro-Asian region.
                  Prof. Chlenov informed that on September 13 2004 the Vaad of Russia Presidium working meeting took place in the context of the RJC and the CLJOR Moscow events. At this meeting various aspects of the organization activity were discussed.
                  Besides, Prof. Chlenov spoke about his visit to St. Petersburg, where he took part in the session of the working group of the Russian State Jewish museum.
