                  EUROPEAN RABBIS MET IN PARIS

The Session of the Conference of European Rabbis passes in the capital of France. Religious leaders of European Jewish communities met to discuss their activity in light of European Union (EU) enlargement, and to coordinate their efforts concerning restraints of assimilation and counteraction to the so-called "new anti-Semitism".
The Russian delegation to the Conference included representatives of the Congress of the Jewish Religious Organizations and Unions of Russia (CJROUR), headed by Adolf Shaevich, Chief Rabbi of Russia. Alexander Machkevich, President of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress, was a special invitee of the rabbinical forum. He arrived in Paris from Berlin immediately following the OSCE Conference on anti-Semitism and informed the rabbis of its results.
"I am confident that today, everyone is waiting for unity and real cooperation: Jews, authorities of the state where we live, and the peoples, among which we live. Peace and harmony in all our European affairs depends on you, our teachers." – the EAJC leader said.
At the session of the Conference of European Rabbis, Machkevich was awarded a special award for his accomplishments in preserving the Jewish tradition, and developing dialogue between peoples and faiths.
