LEADERS OF THE JEWISH COMMUNITY OF JAPAN ARRIVED ON A VISIT TO THE FAR EASTБ

The administration of the Jewish community of Japan visited the Far Eastern regions of Russia. According to a press release issued by the community, which was received in the editorial office of Lenta.Ru, the delegation from Japan arrived to Vladivostok on the 24th of August. Then it left for Khabarovsk and the capital of the Jewish autonomous region, Birobijan.
It is supposed that during the visit the delegation would meet the Jewish public, creative intelligence, and the authorities in the Far East. The mayor of Vladivostok Yuriy Kopylov received the guests from Japan. Together with the city’s Jewish community of Biribijan, they carried out a Shabbath ceremony, as indicated in press release.
In the words of the community’s president Daniel Turk, who headed the delegation, the trip to the Far Eastern region of Russia was also an attempt to see how Jews live in these regions of Russia.
The leaders of the community said that this visit was necessary to involve the peoples of the different countries, to influence the unquiet situation in Southern Asia, to the peaceful dialogue of confessions and cultures. In the opinion of Daniel Turk, the Russian Federation is very important when it comes to making decisions on this matter.
According to the press release, the leader of the Japanese Jews considers the success of this mission to be related to the experience gained during the international Jewish-Islamic dialogue, held under the patronage of Kazakhstan’s President Noursultan Nazarbaev and the largest Jewish organization of the continent, the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), which is headquartered in Almaty. The EAJC President Alexander Machkevich said in an interview devoted to the topic of the visit of the Japanese delegation to the Far East, that the interaction of the local Jewish communities will reduce conflict in all South-East Asia.
"The Jews of Japan and communities of the Far East are the part EAJC, - has emphasized A. Machkevich, - therefore, organizing the contacts, we’ll make active our system of humanitarian connections which plays the positive role in the strengthening of peace cooperation in the region."
