The meeting of the delegation of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), which represents the Jewish communities of Japan and Russia, was held in the administration of Vladivostok.
A RIA “Deita.Ru” correspondent was given this information by the press service of Vladivostok. It was an official visit with the framework of the forthcoming Euro-Pacific congress, under the name “Globalization: Interaction of Economics, Cultures, Technologies and Nature,” which will take place in Vladivostok between Sept. 23 and Sept. 26 in the House of Marine Officers.
The main purpose of this meeting was to establish strong connections between the Jewish communities of the Russian Far East and the countries of the Asian region – in other words, the rapprochement between our coasts in business and in cultural sense.
The head of EAJC Public Relations and Media department Roman Spektor said that their congress is the international nongovernmental association of the Jewish organizations, and communities of all 12 CIS countries and Mongolia, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand. Altogether, the congress includes 29 countries of the Euro-Asian continent where no less than two million Jews live. It was their first visit to Vladivostok. The guests from abroad liked the city very much. And, a member of the EAJC General Council Daniel Turk said that Vladivostok surprisingly reminded him of the American city of San Francisco, but the capital of Primorskiy Krai was much better and more interesting.
Overall, the conversation was friendly and relaxed. At the end of the meeting, both parties exchanged memorable gifts.
