                  THE ACCRETION OF POWER OF THE SUPREME MUFTI OF CAUCASUS / CONGRATULATION OF EAJC

                  The Supreme Mufti of the Caucasus, Sheikh-ul'-Islam Allahshukiur Pasha-zade, is one of the key partners of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC). Together with the EAJC President Alexander Machkevich, Mufti Pasha-zade took part in financing the opening ceremony of the new synagogue for Ashkenazi (European) and Georgian Jews in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku in March 2003.
                  The celebrations in Baku were marked with the official beginning of participation of Mufti Pasha-zade in the Jewish-Islamic Dialogue under the patronage of Kazakhstan's President Noursultan azarbaev. And agreement about participation in the dialogue was achieved during the meeting of EAJC with Mufti.
                  As EAJC President Alexander Machkevich said several times that the establishment of a dialogue between the representatives of the Shiite direction of Islam, of which the spiritual leader on territory of the former USSR is Mufti Pasha-zade, wants peace between all people around the world.
                  On July 28 in Baku, Mufti Pasha-zade was elected as the lifelong chairman of the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples Caucasus.
                  On July 29, the chairman of the Coordination Council of Muftis of Caucasus I. Berdyev in Baku in XI Congress of Muslims of Caucasus told the EAJC Public Relations and Media Department that Mufti Pasha-zade has been elected as the lifelong head of the Board of Muslims of Caucasus.
                  On this occasion, the EAJC President Alexander Machkevich, the EAJC General Secretary Michael Chlenov and the chairman of EAJC General Council Josef Zissels sent their congratulation to Mufti Pasha-zade. (See attachment).

                  On behalf of the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress (EAJC), which unites Jews of two groups and three continents, we cordially congratulate you on your appointment as the lifelong chairman of the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples Caucasus and the lifelong head of the Board of Muslims of the Caucasus.
                  The high level of trust that has been placed in you by the Muslims and other peoples of the Caucasus affirms that the moral revival and tolerance of Islam has found a place in the hearts of the inhabitants of the Caucasian region. We accept their choice.
                  Also, we are convinced that your activities will serve as a pledge of the further extension of the peaceful interaction between adherents of the various religious doctrines, including the development of the Jewish-Islamic dialogue.
                  Our meeting and cooperative participation in the constructing of the synagogue in Baku have laid the foundation for this dialogue. Now it is time to construct the entire building.
                  Let the expectations of the Muslims and the support of all the peoples of the Caucasus strengthen you along the rocky road to good, peace and validity!
